Gifts + trades

To strangers, to admired artists and to friends- small objects and letters, accompanied on occasion by (handwritten) text, are sent out. They reflect Sands’ idea of showing interest when shown interest: paying genuine, equal attention to somebody who is observing your work. These petit gifts reflect the importance of the artist’s social network both in their work and personal life (which is to be one and the same for them). – MH and AC.
