“A new empty space, a start of making this space domestic as well as making a structure for holding things (a desk to meet, a cabinet to store objects, a wall for Adrian Piper’s e-mail). The bigger space allowed us to step back from the work and look at it again, and to do this together (something that the home studio became too small and crowded for).” – RR

“GSA meetings around this time involved a lot of unrolling. Sands his naked body, the ‘explicit’ images and texts in his work have been always present. But this image, of MH and SMW unrolling together, reminds me of another moment: when we did interviews with possible interns, and we would during the job interview randomly pick a painting and unroll this together-of course precisely that one had an explicit text. It was a surprise, and a nice test if the interviewee and Sands would match.” – RR.

“Starting the new year in the new studio, at a still quiet Rijksakademie. Robin and Sands brought the large print to the studio over the Christmas break: ‘It’s not easy being green’. A coat rack and new sparkly notebook from Flying Tiger also arrived. We found a lavender chair, moved in some furniture. Sands showed us images of the wrap dress by Diane van Furstenberg he ordered, which was quite a production to arrange-thinking of wearing this at the Auto Italia opening. ‘It’s not about how something looks, but how it feels’.” From the meta-archive process diary. – RR.
