The Naked Conference

This was a performance with Elke Krystufek and me at the BAWAG Foundation in Vienna to discuss our series ‘Elke and Sands: Equalities, Equivalences’ from 2002 taken by Robin. And we added VALIE’S images with me. VALIE always answered my emails to say “no” but a non-answer meant “yes” so when I asked her if I could show them we had a misunderstanding and she threatened me with lawyers. This possession of intellectual property is anti-feminist. I’m very opinionated when it comes to what is feminist and what isn’t. Elke has now forbidden me to show this edited video, which is a very important work imo. Nothing like it ever appeared. It will make its way into public somehow someday, I will see to that. The Viennese art public and workers like VALIE, Elke, curator Sabine Breitwieser etc. etc. are superrrrrrr snobby and that’s ultra anti-feminist. I believe you can be secure in your art work pursuits without an arrogant attitude. Vienna and and Viennese art world has a lot to learn. I was drawn to Vienna because of the psychological tradition and my jerk grandfather’s influence in my life (my Mom’s Dad). Elke has done very important work but I was too nice for her, she cut contact and tried to get me to destroy all works we had done together and I flatly refused. But I will respect her decision not to show them, because like VALIE, Elke is fond of bringing people to court to get her way (weak). More This possession of intellectual property is anti-feminist.
