These were effectively started around 2012 after my solo show at Cokkie Snoei Galerie in Rotterdam, my first solo show ever in a gallery where absolutely nothing sold. I started painting mid-size on paper in a stream of consciousness fashion.

These are now in storage (not very well stored, must do something about that, I think they are being crushed in storage) and a selection was shown at the Rijksakademie Open in 2021. They are more bold and the compositions are more varied and playful than say the rolled paintings. It takes me forever to develop new ways of working and painting. I am happy with these as a kind of mid-range painting in between rolled paintings and fabric paintings. Lots of them are from 2014-2015 and not dated. After these I went back to a small scale like A4, I work in series but did not realize that until it was pointed out to me by multiple people. – SMW.
